Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop, Inc. is a family-owned business and has been offering landscape services including design, construction, garden maintenance, and a retail nursery for over 40 years. We pride ourselves on our quality plant stock, experienced installation crews, and talented designers.

 

We are currently looking to fill multiple positions within our landscape construction team and garden center for the 2022 season. Our nursery is located in Waukesha and we service customers primarily within the southeast Wisconsin region. We offer a range of full and part-time positions, with the opportunity to work weekends and overtime (some positions require weekends/overtime.)

Landscape Foreman

We are seeking Landscape Foremen with hardscape, softscape, and/or nursery experience. We offer a consistent work schedule with paid overtime, the possibility of year-round employment, and the potential for performance-based bonuses. Compensation package is based on experience.

 

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with a minimum of three years of landscape construction experience and requires the ability to:

  • Read blueprints and lay out job sites

  • Perform and supervise landscape construction. (Tasks vary depending on position, and may include grading, hardscaping, planting, and/or maintenance)

  • Train and supervise 3-5 landscape laborers

  • Track material and labor use on a daily basis

  • Safely operate equipment (including skid loader, mini-excavator and small engine equipment)

  • Perform daily equipment maintenance (check fluids, clean air filters, etc.)

  • English/Spanish bilingual is preferred but not required

  • Valid driver’s license is preferred but not required

 

Landscape Technician

We are seeking experienced Landscape Technicians to work with our construction team. We offer a consistent seasonal work schedule (April-November) with paid overtime, potential for performance-based bonuses and opportunities for advancement. Compensation package is based on experience.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of two years of landscape construction or maintenance experience and requires the ability to:

 

  • Perform landscape construction tasks (including grading, hardscaping, planting, etc.)

  • Safely operate equipment (including skid loader, mini-excavator and small engine equipment)

  • Assist the crew leader in job site lay out

  • Supervise the jobsite in the event of the crew leader's absence

  • English/Spanish bilingual is preferred but not required

  • Valid driver’s license is preferred but not required

 

Landscape Laborers

We are seeking Landscape Laborers of all levels. Positions run the duration of our operating season, which typically runs from April until weather turns inclement. This position offers 50+ hours per week, and overtime is required. Some part-time positions are available.

The ideal candidate has 1 to 2 years of labor experience, but entry level positions are available. Must be able to lift heavy materials repeatedly. Bilingual (English and Spanish) skills preferred, but English-only or Spanish-only skills are acceptable. Valid driver's license is preferred but not required.

 

Garden Center Associate

We are seeking Garden Center Associates and offer full and part-time positions. Scheduled work hours include Saturdays and Sundays from April through August. Horticulture experience or education is a plus, but it is not required. Individuals will be responsible for:

  • Assisting customers

  • Maintaining the quality and appearance of plants and sales lots

  • Putting together displays

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • A positive attitude

  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance under all circumstances

  • Horticulture knowledge desired, but not required

 

Landscape Architect or Designer

We are currently looking for a Landscape Designer or Landscape Architect to work with our design, sales and construction team. This position works directly with both clients and design build staff to provide comprehensive landscape design, consultation and installation services. Responsibilities include conducting site measurements & base map preparation, design & plan preparation, client presentations, material orders, and providing construction support.

Our ideal candidate enjoys developing creative and high-quality design solutions to suit each client’s wishes. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are of great importance. This individual must be able to handle multiple concurrent deadlines. A degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent is strongly preferred. Our ideal candidate is also highly organized, self-motivated, passionate about design and proficient in the following:

  • Site measuring, inventory and analysis

  • Vector based design program (AutoCAD, Dynascape, or similar)

  • Conceptual landscape design

  • Landscape construction techniques

  • Knowledge of common Wisconsin landscape plants

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Google SketchUp is a plus but not required

  • Prior sales experience is a plus but not required

 

We offer a competitive compensation package including a substantial base salary with potential for performance-based bonuses, retirement plan, paid time-off and holidays, health insurance and ongoing opportunities for professional growth. Salary is commensurate upon experience. This position also provides an aspiring Landscape Architect the opportunity to work directly with two licensed LA’s, in preparation for seeking Wisconsin licensure.
