We focus on meeting the individual needs of all students by creating social capital and having our staff, families, and community partners target what kids need. We foster a growth mindset where it is okay to fail or make a mistake. That’s part of the process of learning. I want students to develop the habits that are going to make them successful citizens, such as persistence, managing impulsivity, and listening with empathy and understanding. Relationships are very important and I hope they will have the tools that are going to help them take the next step.

About the Project

On October 1, 2025, volunteers from WLCA member-companies from across the region will donate their time, tools, materials, and talent to create a space where students can learn, grow, and connect with nature. The project will include the construction of an outdoor classroom surrounded by pollinator-friendly plants, stone paths, and countless spaces for students to discover the natural world. The new outdoor classroom will provide Wales Elementary teachers with a flexible, nature-based setting for lessons in science, art, reading, and more. The adjoining butterfly garden will feature Wisconsin-native plants selected specifically to attract monarchs, swallowtails, and other native pollinators, offering students hands-on learning opportunities about ecosystems and biodiversity.

If you have participated in a project in the past, then you already know how rewarding it can be to give back to our community. If you have never participated, we strongly encourage you to do so! Make some new friends, get dirty and lend  a hand.
